Big Bass Adventures on Lake Comedero

Lake Comedero Bass Fishing

Lake Comedero | Accommodations | Daily Schedule

Lake Comedero BassThe gates at Mexico’s Lake Comedero were first lowered to the closed position in 1982 upon completion of the newly constructed dam across the meandering and picturesque Rio San Lorenzo. Aside from providing one of the most ambitious and highly successful agricultural-irrigation- systems to be found in the world, it created a haven for Mexico bass fishing. It has a “state of the art” hydro-electric-generating station located below the dam, which supplies much of the electricity for the surrounding countryside.

Spanning some 30,000 acres, and located in the Sierra Madre Mountains, Lake Comedero is about 100 miles northeast from the seaside resort city of Mazatlan. This is one of Mexico’s most beautiful Trophy Bass Fishing lakes with absolutely amazing scenery. If you love largemouth bass fishing without the crowds then Lake Comedero is the place for you.

Comedero Agressive BassIn 1988, the Florida largemouth bass strain stocking program began and it has produced what many believe is the worlds best Trophy Largemouth Bass lake in the world for bass from 8 to 12lbs.  Bass in the range of 12 to 15lbs are not uncommon. Like El Salto, Lake Comedero has a huge population of  tilapia which provides ample forage for these bass to grow gigantic, mean and aggressive.

Catches of 100+ bass per day are not uncommon for the novice and seasoned angler. The current lake record stands at 19+ pounds. My personal best day on this lake was 230 bass. That’s awesome for any lake anywhere on the planet. I have hooked and lost bass that I am sure would have been in the 14 to 16lb range. When you feel the power of one of these monster bass stripping drag and you can’t do anything about it, you will be addicted to Lake Comedero as I am. Mexico bass fishing doesn’t get much better than this.
