Travel Information

Any travel agent can handle your flight reservations and hotel bookings. We have been using Athens Travel Service for years. They are very professional, courteous and are familiar with our schedules. They will make sure that you’re arrival and departure time’s co-inside with our ground transportation to and from the lodge. They will also handle your hotel bookings if needed depending on the package you choose. You will need a passport and photo ID for your trip.

Baggage is limited to 2 pieces in cargo (50 lbs. each) and one carry-on. If you have more, the airline will make an additional charge (usually $100 to $125). After all these years of going to Mexico, I generally have 1 clothes bag, 1 tackle bag and 1 rod case. Most of the time I pay for the extra baggage but sometimes they let it slide. Remember to check your carry-ons to make sure that all fishing tackle that has hooks, knives or anything that could be considered a weapon is packed in your baggage.

Foreign Currency Exchange Rates

At the present time our outdoor destinations are to Mexico and Brazil. Forget about the exchange rates in both countries; you will not need to change any U.S. dollars in to foreign currency. Everyone that you will come in contact with will accept U.S. Dollars. So how much money do you carry on the trip? Actually you don't have to carry a lot of cash. We recommend that you carry only enough cash to pay for your ground transportation (in Mexico), and tips to guides and lodge personnel. All other expenses on your trip can be paid by travelers checks or credit card.

For example - On your Brazil trip you will spend one day in Manaus and may desire to go shopping. Almost all of the stores, hotels, etc. accept major credit cards and travelers checks. You certainly don't need cash out in the jungle on the houseboat.

In Mexico it is the same situation. You can use credit cards almost anywhere. At the camp everything is furnished. Forget about changing dollars in to pesos, just take enough cash to take care of the different tipping situations.  Your trip is prepaid and it includes almost everything that you will need while you are gone. The things you will need to pay for are shopping, tips and the ground transportation in Mexico. Don't worry about the currency exchanges or taking a lot of extra cash - take plastic and travelers checks and have a great "worry free" trip.
